What is silver ion?
- Dec 25, 2018 -

The polarity of the atom itself is neutral. If the atom's number of protons and electrons are not equal, it becomes an ion. In a chemical reaction, a metal element loses its outer electrons and is positively charged, called a cation. A non-metal atom or atomic group gets electrons and is negatively charged, called an anion. Silver ions are silver elemental metals that form cations after losing the outer electrons. The radius is the same order of magnitude as the silver atom size. The silver atom has a radius of 0.165 nm and a silver ion radius of 0.126 nm. Silver ions are mostly present in silver salts, such as silver nitrate, silver protein, silver sulphate, silver sulfadiazine, and pure electrolytic silver ion solutions.
